SMGS launched Automated Weather Station

General Santos City - SMGS officially launched the installation of Automated Weather Station last June 30, 2014. Attended by representatives from the Private Sector headed by the South Cotabato Filipino-Chinese Chamber President Kerwin Y. Cue, members of the Academe (Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, STI GenSan and Shalom Crest Wizard Academy) and our Men in Uniform led by Col. Bautista of the JTF Gensan.


The Automated Weather Station is a monitoring station equipped with different sensors capable of measuring the following weather parameters: air temperature, air humidity, air pressure, rain amount, duration, and intensity. The weather data is sent wirelessly through a cellular network as a text message or Short Messaging System (SMS). As an automated type of traditional weather station, it is designed to provide localized information to the public; SMGS - AWS can cover to 3-4 kilometers away from the mall.


Automated Weather Station is part of SM's commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility through their partnership with Weather Philippines Foundation. The event was graced by SMGS Mall Manager - Mae Ann Pawai, who introduced AWS website and how this works to provide relevant information to the users. The real-time importance and its benefits were presented by Alexie Delos Santos, HR Manager- SMGS.
