First GenSan GeoWalk

12:41 PM
General Santos City - Separated into two groups, the 30 mappers strolled the length of the road of Santiago Blvd. last November 30, 2013 together with the team from GBG GenSan and volunteer mappers to accumulate insights about its establishments and take photographs. Business information being gathered will be input on Google Map to help businesses be found on Google! This is GenSan First GeoWalk.

...and YES! WE're ready to take off and map your business on Google! Photo credit to +Hector Miñoza

A GeoWalk is a type of MapUp where participants walk around a predefined area and, similar to a scavenger hunt, collect information about the real world to add to Google Maps once they're back at a computer. A photo element can also be added. Consider taking photo spheres while out collecting other map data.

Mappers were gathered before the start of GeoWalk for some  instructions and mapping guidelines.

GeoWalkers in particular order: +Erwin Bantilan , +Gem Tadefa , +arnel pedrosa , +Arnel Joshua Lim (behind), +jonhel rillo , +Rofil Mae Rillo and +Christine Cloma

Siblings from I.T. world turned into GeoWalkers with GBG GenSan Manager Avel Manansala.

At the end of the day, volunteer mappers were so happy after the GBG - GenSan Manager +Avel Manansala affirmed that they're currently authoritatively members of Google Business Group - General Santos (GBG - Gensan). Google Map Up sticker pins and freebies were given to the members also.

Later they all plotted these on Google Mapmaker at the STI College. See photograph underneath for the new sticks in red pins. We still have a handful of details we haven't pin yet on the map.
