The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's (MPBL) title sponsor OKBet fulfilled its promise to bring the city's MassKara Festival to life a few months earlier this year, making basketball games in Bacolod more festive and colorful.

OKBet, the rising star in the local sports entertainment industry and MPBL's official partner for its fourth regular season, launched the two-day "OKBet Goes To Bacolod" event on July 18 at the University of St. La Salle Gymnasium, coinciding with the highly-anticipated games of the country's premier regional basketball league.

Bacolod Bingo Plus, one of the top-performing teams in the south division so far this season, was one of the four teams that competed, giving the "City of Smiles" even more reason to cheer and beam with joy.

Valenzuela City XUR Homes Realty Inc., Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines, and Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards were also present to compete.

Following the first day's opening match, a troupe of local performers dressed in kaleidoscopic costumes and their signature smiling masks entertained the ecstatic Bacolod crowds as well as the passionate fans who had traveled from far and wide to watch their favorite teams battle it out on the basketball court.

A booth decked out in the colors of the OKBet brand was set up at the venue, where lucky fans received a plethora of freebies and prizes, including OKBet t-shirts, lanyards, and the opportunity to meet the players after the games.

Prior to the basketball game, the multi-industry company donated hygiene kits to the city government of Bacolod, as part of its ongoing series of corporate social responsibility initiatives that kicked off in Muntinlupa just one week earlier. This occurred during the press conference the mayor of Bacolod, Albee Benitez, hosted to welcome the MPBL delegates.

The rather early celebration, which may very well be the first of many, follows OKBet's commitment to support and celebrate all things Filipino — in this case, our joyous nature, world-class creativity, and undeniably fun culture. These culture-defining characteristics, combined with our fierce fighting spirit, explain why our people enjoy competitions and sporting events so much. OKBet desires that we all adopt these characteristics as part of nation-building in the future.

This new name in the local gaming and sports entertainment industry unveiled a magnificent mural in the world-famous Tenement Court in Taguig City more than a month ago. The colossal artwork, created in collaboration with the Tenement Visual Artists, signified the company's commitment to further promote the basketball scene and the countless aspiring athletes in the country following the conclusion of their partnership with MPBL.

MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes formally welcomed OKBet as this season's title sponsor at a press conference held on June 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the Okada Manila in Paraaque City. In these difficult times when we are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, he noted that the two parties share a common goal of empowering homegrown talents so that they can reach their full potential.

By embracing and continuing to celebrate Filipino culture and identity, the happiness and satisfaction of our people can surpass that of the smiling masks in Bacolod. The early celebration can instead occur throughout the entire year.
