JT's Manukan: A Taste of Bacolod in Davao

6:53 PM

As a food enthusiast living in the south side of Davao, I've always heard whispers of a place that serves the most delectable Ilonggo dishes, straight from Bacolod City in Negros Occidental. My curiosity finally led me to JT's Manukan, a restaurant that has been making waves with its specialty – the irresistible inasal.

JT’s Manukan has garnered quite a reputation across the Philippines, with branches scattered throughout the country. Luckily, Davao has its own gem, conveniently located at Jacinto Extension, right in front of the charming Doña Vicenta Park – a new favorite hangout spot for locals.

Upon my first visit, I understood why everyone had been raving about JT's Manukan. The menu boasted an array of choices, from the classic inasal to beloved Filipino comfort food like dinuguan, liempo, batchoy, sisig, and even some regional favorites that are hard to come by in other restaurants – apan apan, adobong kangkong, ensaladang talong, cansi, and laing.

What sets the Davao branch apart is its unique offerings. Keso talaba, rockstar talaba, tuna belly, panga, grilled longaniza, kinilaw – these items are exclusive to this branch, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts like me. And to top it all off, they offer unlimited rice, a testament to the universal truth that rice is indeed life.

Aside from that, it's the only JT's Manukan with a cozy cafe inside. So, not only can you indulge in the delectable food, but you can also savor a good cup of coffee to complement your meal.

Among the mouthwatering options, three dishes stood out for me:

Sizzling Cansi Steak: Served on a sizzling plate and drenched in batwan gravy, this dish bursts with flavor. The steak is unbelievably tender, making each bite a delightful experience. The sizzle and aroma are simply irresistible.

Cansi Soup: The Cansi Soup, often considered the Bulalo of the Ilonggo cuisine, is a game-changer. Every spoonful feels like a warm embrace. It's a harmonious blend of rich flavors and satisfying textures that will keep you coming back for more.

Spicy Paa: The Spicy Paa is a recent addition, and it offers a fiery twist on their classic inasal. The heat starts on the crispy skin and travels all the way to the succulent chicken meat. It's a flavor adventure worth embarking on.

Let's not forget about the chicken oil – a perfect companion for your rice. It's a guilty pleasure that I can never resist.

Despite the distance from my home in the south, JT's Manukan has never disappointed me. Every visit is a gastronomic journey, and I always leave with a satisfied belly and a craving for more. If you're ever in Davao, make sure to pay a visit to this food haven. JT's Manukan is more than a restaurant; it's an experience that captures the essence of Bacolod's culinary magic.

So, next time you're seeking a taste of Bacolod right here in Davao, remember that JT's Manukan is the place to be. Prepare your taste buds for a rollercoaster of flavors, and don't forget to indulge in that irresistible unlimited rice. JT's Manukan is where delicious memories are made.
