According to the Ookla® Speedtest Awards Q3-Q4 2021, PLDT Home continues to be the fastest broadband network in Davao City, outperforming telco competitors with upload and download speeds of 70.06 Mbps and 71.50 Mbps, respectively.

According to the Ookla® Q3-Q4 2021 data, PLDT received a countrywide speed score of 77.24, up from 27.28 in the previous year's second half, which was a significant improvement. The Speed Score is a metric that considers both the upload and download speeds.

Because of PLDT Home's leadership in Davao City, it is able to grow in economic activities that rely on the productivity of people who work from home. Remote jobs, virtual education, and entrepreneurship are all examples of this. The telco company has already restored 99 percent of its fixed-line services in Mindanao as part of its commitment to its consumers affected by the recent Typhoon Odette.

PLDT is relentless in its mission to provide key Philippine cities like Davao with the fastest and most superior home internet services, to help accelerate their economic success. The increased demand for the fastest broadband in the country remains strong and we’re investing as well in our capabilities to install, upgrade and repair so that our customers in Davao enjoy better digital life with future-ready homes,” says Butch G. Jimenez, Jr., Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Business.

Fastest Fixed Network Win

The Ookla® Speedtest Award has regularly recognized PLDT's dominance in the country's speed, with the company winning the fastest broadband award in each quarter of 2021. Ookla® compares data from millions of consumer-initiated tests done on Speedtest® platforms to determine ISP network speed. Tests on various networks utilizing digital devices linked via Wi-Fi and fixed networks by Filipino internet users are included in the data. In the geographic area, each top carrier accounts for at least 3% of the total sample size.

The telco giant's aggressive network development and migration across the country continue to drive improvements in broadband speeds and quality.

PLDT Home offered its biggest speed boost for consumers in the second half of 2021, which was three times as much as the previous broadband plans. The Philippines' first 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service was released by PLDT Residential in November 2021, putting it in the same league as countries like South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and the United States, which have access to ultra-fast home internet rates.

In the Philippines, PLDT Home continues to set the bar for the future of home internet connectivity by providing access to cutting-edge Smart Home solutions such as Wifi Mesh devices, entertainment, and security services combined with its scalable broadband plans.

All of these technologies are driven by PLDT's largest network in the country, with over 5.77 million fiber-powered ports and a fiber backbone that spans 743,700 kilometers and reaches 13.9 million residences.

In the midst of the country's ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, PLDT Home has connected over 3.6 million customers, proving to be the most trusted telco among Filipino families for fast internet connections for work at home, online school, and family entertainment at home.
